When you connect AI to your own tools (via MCP, for example), little irritations quickly appear. One of mine: I couldn’t give my agents and assistants a link to a particular email thread in a way they could actually use. Gmail’s links are completely useless for that 🤬

Right. Time to remind myself of a hacker’s mindset. Time to let an AI help build a tiny Gmail add-on (an Apps Script). Now I can open an email, click a button, get the email’s actual ID, hand it over to my AI and have it read exactly the right thread. Five minutes, problem solved.

The distance between user and developer has never been smaller.

(Is this something you’d find useful? Say the word, and the team and I will package it up this weekend. I’m going to tidy up the UX anyway, so I might as well make a generic version, but only if there’s interest.)

Alltså. Dags att påminna mig själv om ett hackers mindset. Dags att låta en AI hjälpa till och bygga ett pyttelitet Gmail-tillägg (ett Apps Script). Nu kan jag öppna ett mail, klicka en knapp, få fram mailets riktiga id, lämna över till min AI och den läser exakt rätt tråd. Fem minuter, problem löst.

Avståndet mellan användare och utvecklare har aldrig varit mindre.
